AGDA Merit Award – Craft, 2020

This publication examines the brutalist architecture of the Footscray Psychiatric Centre, also known as ‘Westhaven’. A visual narrative progresses throughout, highlighting the buildings graphical qualities, moving from macro to micro, showcasing the evident tension between form and function. Westhaven now serves no purpose, with petition for heritage listing based on its Brutalist aesthetic and historical ties to the brutalist architectural movement in Victoria during the 1970’s.
