2019 marked the centenary of the birth of Robin Boyd, a highly respected and influential Australian architect based in Melbourne, Victoria. He was a leader in Melbourne’s Modernist Architecture movement, a visionary in urban design, an author, critic and public educator.
This collection of stamps provides abstract-illustrative representations of four significant buildings designed by Boyd throughout his career. As a pioneer of Modernist Architecture in Australia, these stamps graphically represent modernist concepts and aesthetics with the use of geometric shapes and a minimal colour palette. The use of 100¢ portrays 100 years since his birth.
