Repurposing with Imposed Restriction
AGDA Merit Award – Print, 2020

A brief exploring the repurposing of materials as a means of invention. Students were asked to explore the materiality of objects of their choosing and repurpose them in a way that was sympathetic to the objects inherent characteristics.
Found wood off-cuts deemed as rubbish, in a makers space formed the basis for my investigation, which explored the notion of restriction in design practice through composition and colour interaction. The final artefact consists of a 20 page A5 booklet of wood-block prints, created using three found wood plates and a restricted colour palette of red, black and blue.
